Challenge - Fourth of July!

Happy 'murica day, y'all!

I think these ones kinda speak for themselves! It did cross my mind that my accent nails were slightly influenced by the Bioshock Infinite logo and I'm totally okay with that.

For my dominant hand, I found the louboutin effect to be totally adorable and worth the mess it caused to create it.  On my right hand it was neither adorable nor worth the mess.  I think the mixture of my oafish left hand and shorter nails was disastrous.


 I hope your holiday is safe and filled with more fun than you can shake a stick at (not that I  encourage stick-waggling in public, mind you).

Reverse-Gradient Redux

Rachel inspired me to revisit a prior mani that I loved.  I am so excited and proud of the results! My nails have clearly grown longer/stronger and my clean-up skills have definitely improved.

Have I mentioned how much I love this look?

Challenge - Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho

Yay plans!

I am a thriller/horror enthusiast, and love how complex and robust Hitchcock's work is. The biggest hurdle this week was which scenes or themes to pull out of his works!

I landed on Psycho because it truly is my favorite of his films. I didn't even realize some of the depth to the imagery until doing my homework as I planned! This challenge made me fall more deeply in love with the unsettling tale of Norman Bates.

My goal was to capture iconic scenes as well as one can with lacquer. Hopefully, I delivered!

Challenge - Striping - Reverse Gradient

Striping is one of my favorite polish techniques because it is so universal. I popped my head into r/redditlaqueristas for a bit of inspiration and immediately decided the reverse gradient striping needed to happen. I'm shocked at how relatively simple it was!

My collection still needs some work so I ended up using my Magnetic polish for the blue but I love how it looks not magnetized!

All in all, this was a simple and really awesome look!

Challenge Week 4 - GLITTAH

How cool were my deep-sea mermaidy glitter nails?

Almost some!

 I started with a half-assed plan and played with all of my mermaidiest polishes and glitters.  I scoured the internet for inspiration and landed on FISH SCALES.  How amazing would those be?!  Failing that, I could always go for a sassy jelly sandwich!

As it turns out I'm terrible at fish scales. No problem, right? I still have my back-up plan and that surely cannot fail. False.  The weird blobby sad middle finger you see is the most woeful mermaid jelly sandwich ever to have been born. I need to expand my collection of one jelly polish to more than one and soon. 

I really did love that thumb, though. It was a ridiculous amount of work to get the striping and loose glitter right.  I didn't even feel bad when the glitter got all over my pets and husband.  In fact, exactly zero cares were given.

To make up for the ho-hum I felt for the failure of my undersea adventure, I purchased some new polishes that didn't come in time for this challenge.  So, I went for a simple gunmetal grey (LA Colors BCC558) with some glittery goodness (Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Glitz Gal) and a pop of striping.
