piCture pOlish - Voodoo, plus special guest OPI Funky Dunkey

Ah, the saga of the temporary insanity continues... Another installment of "I went nuts when Llarowe restocked" is here for your viewing pleasure.

I got my first piCture pOlish, and lemming down! It was so dreamy using. The first polish I used that was so easy to paint with that I didn't need clean-up! Some may say that I should have done a little touch up here and there... BUT I WAS SO PROUD! So yay for first time painting nails like a really person instead of The Bride of Frankenstein.

This pic is in direct sunlight. Outside it just sparkled like crazy! When the bottle came, it was mostly a gold/coppery dusting of glitter on the bottle, giving it a more brown than red vampy look. So, I remember thinking... Is this what I ordered?! So, I put it off putting it on. OH THANK GOODNESS I FINALLY USED IT! One of my absolute FAVORITES right now.  This pic, to me, really represents the dark, luscious, saturated color. The sparkle is not really popping in the pic though. SO.... I did a macro. Well... AS macro as *I* can get right now.

Ok, first. This photo is not edited AT ALL. It's so crazy hot awesome it came out. It looks so velvety.

As much as I LOVED this by itself, I wanted to try out something new I also got from Zulily when they had the OPI duo's on sale. OPI Funky Dunkey was paired with OPI Black Spotted!!!!!!! ANOTHER LEMMING X2 DOWN! To have the opportunity to FINALLY get Black Spotted for less than $4 billion?! That's just... I'm verklempt. Mucho fotos soon.

Moving along... I did some nail art with Funky Dunkey. I am actually proud of it. It's me. Fun, jagged, understated, and lovely. Iffffff I do say so myself... Also, I googled color wheels and played with colors and this is my favorite combo that I made... MOVING ALONG....

In these pictures the sparkle comes out better. I took them in direct sunlight. This is the first set of pics that I took without artificial light.

To conclude, this I am pretty proud with this post. I think I did a good job with the color combo and the pics. :D

Don't forget about our giveaway. As I posted in FB,  *IF* *WHEN* we reach 200 likes we are adding an additional polish per prize. We will reveal the prizes after reaching 150 likes. There's a Julep, two Barielles and an Ulta.  Don't miss out on your chance to win a CUSTOM indie +1, 4 Barielles +1, 3 Calvin Kleins +1, and Orly Duo +1!!!!!  Pretty sweet deal.

Giveaway!

OH YES IT IS HERE!!!!
Avast me hearties! Weigh anchor! We be on a journey to Polishlandia!
Where the pretties be sparkly, and the color abounds.

In celebration of the change in the name of this blog, we are having a GIVEAWAY!
Replygif.net
He's so sexy.
Ahem...
We have four wonderful prizes!!!!!

Prize 1: Carpe Noctem Cosmetics - No Sweets for Sweet Jujie
This is a custom polish Emily from Carpe Noctem Cosmetics made! IT IS INSANITY OF BEAUTY IN A BOTTLE! I asked her to do a polish for my kitty, Jujie. Emily generously donated another bottle for our celebration! He was recently diagnosed with diabetes, and it was a very scary road towards this. He is way better now, but no more carbs for Mr. Kitty!
This is No Sweets for Sweet Jujie over aEngland Tess D'Urbervilles. NSfSJ is in a sea green/teal jelly base with large holo circle, gold hex, and magenta hex glitter.  The green base is the spitting image of his eye color (which I asked for), and the glitter is like candy and wrappers! Emily is so amazing to work with, and she really cares that the polish turns out exactly how you want it. Thank you to infinity, Emily!

 Prize 2:
Three Calvin Klein Splendid Color polishes. Fuchsia Pink, Salmon, and Bright Fuchsia. I thought these are so summery, and thought would be perfect for the giveaway for this time of year.

Prize 3:
Four Barielle polishes in Exquisite Dance, Positive Zen-ergy, Secret Admirer, and End of the Rainbow. They aren't really as summery, but I thought they really went well with each other.

Prize 4:
An Orly duo of Ultra Violet and You Are Not Alone.  The pic shows them a bit darker than in person. I tried to get as good of a pic, but my camera was not wanting to cooperate.

This giveaway will run from August 14 to September 19 (Talk Like a Pirate Day, btw). When it's over, thar shall be treasure! This is for U.S. only. Still looking into how to get the international ladies in on the treasure!

There are a few mandatory entries, and all entries will be verified. Those who do not participate correctly will be disqualified.  All prizes are brand new, and purchased by me, Rachel. Once the prizes are mailed, the blog owners are no longer responsible for the items.

Good luck!

Ahoy, mateys!

Newly Obsession is no longer so new. In fact, we're so obsessed we're pretty much old sea dogs at this point.  Like all of the good sea dogs, we're out to plunder more polish-booty and possibly do rogue type stuff (mostly, we just want more lacquer).

All that being said, we're retiring our newness in favor of something more fitting for our silly and awesome ways.  Our blog will be relaunching soon with a new design, new name, and a giveaway!

Glitter Gradient

Lately I haven been trying to take pics of my manis to share.

Today I wore OPI Eiffel for This Color, with accent nail of Diva of Geneva.  I ADORE these colors! I truly fell for them...?
Anyway, Eiffel for This Color is a deep plum, It's so gorgeous.  In the bottle there is a bit of shimmer, but on the nail it's more creme. Diva of Geneva is a wonderful shimmery maroon. They look great together, in my opinion.  I did a glitter gradient with Julep's Paris. I've used this before, and still love it. There's medium hex glitter with micro glitter as well that are holographic.
My gradient is not so... Gradient-y.  But, I like it. Looks like falling sparkles.

Our GIVEAWAY ends on the 14th, so get your entries in!!! Some great stuff in the giveaway. Soo bad we can't enter our own.

Illamasqua Mottled Score!

So, when I broke my promise to Moratorium a week ago, I was fortunate to find as Sephora Illamasqua's Mottled.  I have been wanting one of these from their speckled collection.  This minty color is perfect MINT. Not a Tiffany blue, but a really good mint. It looks like mint chocolate chip ice cream. I'm sure everyone has said that. Yes, I'm a little late in the game... BUT I STILL GOT ONE!!! YAY!!!!!
I've had this one for 4 days now. There is a little tiny bit of tip wear, but no chipping. And, I've done dishes and cleaned some too! Super RAD! I don't typically wear polish for very long because it starts to chip. I'm not very easy on my nails because of all the typing I do for work and school. And, it gives me an excuse to have new polish every few days, so BONUS! However, this polish is just amazing.  I haven't wanted to take it off yet.

Even though I can't say the name, and have tried to say it a million times in my head, this polish is bad ass.

Don't forget about the GIVEAWAY!  I've notice not many entries.  Is there something you like to see in giveaways? Let us know! We want to do many more, and want to make sure it's something that people would like to sign up for.

Moratorium - Week 3 - Fell into the abyss

Week 3

I cheated.
I'm a CHEATER!
A PUMPKIN EATER!!!!
I was excited over the birth of my nephew, and raced out to get some giveaway items. This was for the benefit of others, not me! I promised myself that I would not buy anything that was not for the giveaway.  I should have just said "You're WEAK! You're not strong enough! Just buy something and get it over with! WHO CARES ABOUT NO-BUYS?! NOT YOU!!!!"
That is what the Moratorium yelled at me. Then turned its back and mumbled something about me not caring about it, and how could I betray it so?
Dammit, Moratorium!? When I have been lusting after that Floam dupe from SP, and Illamasqua's Mottle that was clearance at Sephora. CLEARANCE, I TELL YOU! And then maybe a Pure Ice Cheatin which is one that i have been wanting for a long time.
So, I asked Moratorium to take me back. It is skeptical. Mostly because of the Zoya sale of buy one get two free... And... Because I partook of its guilty pleasures.
BUT! This is it. I can be kinda strong. I will start again. I will live anew! I will take protein to build my STRENGTH! Maybe not the protein...

Seriously... It was so worth it...

To make this post not just a wacky rambling, here's a pic of my mani today of Essence Color and Go Chic Reloaded! I tried to take pics of it underwater to get the multi-chrome come out, hence the water drops. It was so hard to capture the color. It goes from a charcoal, to a deep plum, to a dark green. It's gorgeous in real life. In the two pics, you can JUST see a hint of the purple and a slight tease of the green. I highly recommend this color.
Scrangie was able to get some pretty good shots here. She even said it was hard to get the colors to pop for her camera. Now I don't feel so bad about my less than stellar representation.

Tomorrow I think I'm gonna try out my Illamasqua Mottle. I have a feeling I'm gonna like it!!!!!

Don't forget about the GIVEAWAY!!!!

Challenge AND GIVEAWAY!

So, lotsa stuff to talk about today!
First, I'm an auntie again! My sister gave birth to their second son, Jason Ryan. He's beautiful, and I'm not being biased.  Well... Maybe a little.
This brings great things for you, readers! After we look at the challenge, there will be the giveaway stuff, so hang tight!

First, the 80's Flick challenge.  My favorite has to be Pretty in Pink.  I love the Brat Pack, and most of all Molly Ringwald.  GO GINGERS!
This is based this loosely on a minimalist poster for Pretty in Pink.

I started off with a pink ombre of Julep Jennifer, L'Oreal Penthouse Pink, Julep Avery, Orly Purple Crush. A little polka dotting, some stamping, and a few caviar beads for her pearls... VOILA! Granted the caviar beads are silver, but you make do with what you got. Unfortunately the lighting in this got a little wonky, but you get the idea.

So, now... To the goodies!
We made this, OUR FIRST GIVEAWAY, a blue theme.  This is to celebrate Jason Ryan's first day of life. WELCOME TO THE WORLD LITTLE MAN!
This is a U.S. ONLY giveaway. Sorry international readers. We will attempt to make the next one international participation. Giveaway will end on July 14, 2013 11:59pm PST.

Now the PRIZES!!!

Winner #1 will get a Nails Inc. Bling it On Midnight set.

Winner #2 will get two Sephora OPI polishes. Indi-go With the Flow and Opening Night.

Enter in the Rafflecopter below! There are some mandatory entries.
Good luck, readers!!!
